The most spectacular caves in Halong Bay

Halong Bay is one of the destinations that have the greatest number of wonderful and mysterious caves in Vietnam. When you come here, you definitely do not want to miss visiting those caves. The pristine feature of them have attracted a lot of domestic and foreign visitors every year. Here is the list of the most spectacular caves in Halong Bay that you should see when paying a visit to these beautiful places.
1. Sung Sot Cave
Sung Sot Cave (Amazing Cave) is one of the most famous caves of Halong Bay. This cave is located in the heart of the World Heritage Ha Long Bay on Bo Hon Island, which is in the center of Halong Bay. This is a large and beautiful cave, welcomes a huge number of visitors every year. Moreover, Sung Sot Cave is considered as a symbol of Halong Bay.
Ascending to the grotto, the way is covered by trees and foliage, offering lush landscape into the mountain. When you come here, it is from surprise to surprise. That is the reason why it is named as Surprising or Amazing Cave.
2. Trinh Nu Cave (Virgin Cave)
Trinh Nu Cave, along with other caves in the same cave system such as Sung Sot Cave, Dong Tien Lake, Luon Cave, which is located on Bo Hon Island. It is about 15 kilometers from Bai Chay of Halong Bay.
When you enter Trinh Nu Cave, you can easily see a stone statue of a girl lying in the center of the cave. Inside Trong Cave (or Male Cave) which is opposite of Trinh Nu Cave is a stone statue of a man looking at the girl statue. For the fishermen, Trinh Nu Cave is considered as their home, while the couple considers it as a symbol, the vow of love.
3. Thien Cung Cave (Paradise Cave)
Thien Cung Cave is one of the most magical caves as its name. Thien Cung Cave is located at the North of Dau Go Island, which is about four kilometers to the South of the port. This cave is about 10 000 meters square in width.
On the way to Paradise Cave, it is covered on both sides by thick forest, so it is quite difficult to get there. Once you enter Thien Cung Cave, you will have a feeling of just having seen a unique, meticulous and amazing fine-art museum which is created by nature. All are created by nature with the magical and human imagination.
4. Luon Cave
Luon Cave is a familiar place for kayaking tours on Halong Bay. Luon Cave is located on Bo Hon Island, is about 14 kilometers to the South of Bai Chay. This is the most colorful cave in Halong Bay.
The total length of Luon Cave is about 60 meters, and the cave’s ceiling is between two meters and four meters, depending on the water level. If the level of water is high, you have to lower your head to pass through it. This is the reason why the cave is called “Luon” in Vietnamese.
5. Bo Nau Cave (Pelican Cave)
Bo Nau Cave (Pelican Cave) a vaulted grotto covering 200m². From the entrance, there are three stones that look like three fairies with their heads close to one another. Two men appear to be playing chess, with the third serving as a referee. You can hear the murmur of the sea all year round when standing here.
6. Me Cung Cave (Maze Cave)
Me Cung Cave (Maze Cave) is about 25 meters from the sea level on Lom Bo Island, which is about two kilometers to the Southwest to Titop Island. Me Cung Cave is located in the absolute protection of the heritage – Wonder World Halong Bay.
The cave’s entrance has such a complicated structure with many rooms, floors as well as the stone ceiling and 100-meter-long balcony. There is also a lake called Me Cung inside the cave. The Me Cung Lake falls between the walls of the rocky mountain. According to scientists, Me Cung Lake is a geological and ecological area having great scientific value.
7. Tam Cung Cave (Three Palaces Cave)
Tam Cung Cave (Three Palace Cave) is located in the center of Halong Bay, which is about five kilometers to the Northeast of Surprise Cave. There are many beautiful stalactites.
The cave is divided into three rooms with a lot of wonderful and spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. Especially, the second room of the cave is a lively natural museum. There is also a long stream inside the cave. This place is like the castle, the land of the princess sleeping in the forest. At the third room, the spectacular and skillful sculptured artworks of the Mother Nature will surprise and give you an unforgettable memory.
8. Hanh Cave
Hanh Cave has a length of 1300 meters, running through Quang Hanh Mountain to the sea, nine kilometers to the west of Cam Pha town, 20 kilometers to Bai Chay. The door is very low so you will need to use a small boat to get inside the cave.
You can hire canoes from the Doan Port (in Hon Gai – Halong) or drive to Cam Pha Town, the rent boats or canoes at Cam Pha to visit Hanh Cave. Before entering the cave, you should carry a flashlight. Normally, the time you spend at this cave takes about 60 to 90 minutes. If you like discovering, you will love Hanh Cave.
